Okay now thanks for the clarification, that actually helped me understand your point better.
I see what your saying now: its not that these things shouldn't be depicted at all, but rather that the repetition of these tropes across nearly every female character makes it feel lazy rather than meaningful. that's a fair point.
I originally brought up the historical context just to say that these elements could make sense in the setting, but I totally get the historical realism doesn't excuse overusing the same narrative device to the point that it flattens the character and just make it seem lazy lol.
But any way's, at first I thought you just didn't like that they showed what the EDO period was like, but now that your saying its more about the repetition, I totally get it!.
Yeah I get the monogatari analogy, that's a perfect example and really is true.
So all in all, I don't get your point there, but the review was fun to read!.
