No she is Ky's daughter but apparently one of the show was canon to her backstory at all

Yep. Unika has a completely different backstory aside from being Ky's daughter, as far as I'm aware.

The tie-in DLC doesn't even acknowledge it as canon, apparently.

Dual Rulers really did look terrible didn't it?

Yes lol. this is my first time reading one of those long review and I did indeed enjoy it!
Okay now thanks for the clarification, that actually helped me understand your point better. I see what your saying now: its not that these things shouldn't be depicted at all, but rather that the repetition of these tropes across nearly every female character makes it feel lazy rather than meaningful. that's a fair point. I originally brought up the historical context just to say that these elements could make sense in the setting, but I totally get the historical realism doesn't excuse overusing the same narrative device to the point that it flattens the character and just make it seem lazy lol. But any way's, at first I thought you just didn't like that they showed what the EDO period was like, but now that your saying its more about the repetition, I totally get it!. Yeah I get the monogatari analogy, that's a perfect example and really is true. |

Your samurai champloo review is great and understandable, but I only got confused on one point you made which was, Fuu and most woman getting, sexually assaulted, forced to marry etc, this was the part where I got confused because, samurai champloo was set in the endo period, where women really did face those kind of challenges, Arranged marriages, political marriege were sadly common, things like sexual exploitation happened, especially in places like yoshiwara.
So all in all, I don't get your point there, but the review was fun to read!. |

It's been a while since I've seen School Days but I always liked Sekai's character. Like, she does some terrible things, but that's the point, in my opinion it makes her a more interesting character. Her personality prior to everything going to shit was appealing too.

Your Beastars review is far too hysterical. Racemixing is evil. Beastars had a surprisingly level-headed and pragmatic take on interspecies relationships, instead of going the usual idealistic and overly naive anime route.

I'm glad i'm not the only one who didn't like katanagatari very much, good review. I disagree with some of your other ones but that one was spot on, good work.

"Family Guy cutaway flashbacks" is a pretty funny yet spot-on way to describe Sousou no Frieren's constant flashbacks. Also "Madhoussy" as a term... fascinating.
