Every major point where the main character shows their prowess has been either dulled down or just completely changed to remove focus from him. So many details were changed that the characters in the show are mere husks of what the manga characters are.
I really wanted to like this, I did. I hope that the episodes will do the manga some kind of justice but as things are progressing right now, the odds are abysmally low.
If you have not read the manga, this show is a mid tier adventure fantasy anime at best. If you have read the manga, keep watching if you're holding out for the slim chance the anime will improve, if not then just save yourself the time and avoid the adaptation.
