Not gonna lie, I didn’t expect to get this hooked. What started as casual watching turned into a full-blown obsession—I’d finish an episode and instantly need to hit “next.” The way this show keeps you hanging at the end of every single episode should be illegal.

The story flow is just so smooth. It constantly builds momentum and never feels like it’s wasting time. Even slower arcs have a reason, and the payoff is always worth it. And when it picks up? Man, it really picks up. I genuinely think some of the fight scenes in this show are top-tier—not just visually, but emotionally and strategically. It’s not just punching and power-ups; it’s smart, intense, and constantly evolving.

Animation-wise, it holds up surprisingly well even today. Clean movements, great use of color and light during tense moments, and it really knows how to crank up the pressure during fights. Plus, I appreciate how every important character—not just Gon and Killua—gets time to shine. From Kurapika’s vengeance arc to Meruem’s entire existence… it’s just masterfully done. I actually found myself caring about characters I didn’t even expect to like.

If I had to nitpick though, the final arc felt a bit rushed. I get that the manga was kind of in limbo at the time, so the anime had to wrap things up... but still, I was hoping they’d spend more time on the Dark Continent stuff. They teased it so hard near the end and then—bam—credits roll. It left me both satisfied and screaming inside, lol.

One of those rare shows that fires on all cylinders: writing, pacing, character work, world-building… everything. It’s the kind of anime that sets the bar so high, it ruins other shows for a while.
