Both of these shows have similar moods, character chemistry, and mood. They have their fair share of jolly and goofy moments, but aren't afraid to get a bit serious at times. K-On is less focused on characters achieving a specific goal, but both are clearly more about the journey than the destination. Character dynamics are believable and often relatable.
While these two anime have nothing in common when it comes to their plots, the main characters' design, their personality archetypes and the way they interact with each other are extremely similar, almost mirroring at times. Anyone who liked one of these will absolutely like the other just out of the fact that the dynamics of the interaction between characters is practically the same.
