Both have magic s. A badass main character. Loudmouth girl. Quiet boy sidekick. Fighting magical s#$%. And the main character has a girl in his life he couldn't protect!
Cast of the shows is almost the same. The Badass Main Hero — Orphen and Kazuma. The Airheaded Tsundere — Cleao and Ayano. The Kawaii Blondie Sidekick — Majic and Ren. The Damsel in Distress from main hero's past — Azalea and Tsui Ling. Plot is also somewhat similar.
Well Plot and Premises are quite different. The familiar feeling is with the characters, disposition of Orphen and Cleao is similar to Kazuma and Ayano, respectively. And of course the resulting interactions, between relevant couples, were alike too.
