I don't understand why this manga is so popular I'd argue its only purpose is to traumatized the reader.

The art is ok but the story/plot and writing are absolutely atrocious garbage. Hundreds of chapters with no resolution or substance. Then the original author died and it got waaaay worse. The story/plot did a complete 360 and all the character development was reversed and there was barely any to begin with. The main antagonist is basically the main character and the protagonist just feels like a punching bag for the writer. I genuinely feel like I wasted my time reading chapters 90 - 375 because ... the characters are right back were they started with less motivation. It feels like the new writers are doing whatever they want with the story in spite of the original creator. The story progression was completely derailed and reset. They deleted characters for no reason and not a single thing has been resolved still. The art style is progressively getting worse as well and there is way too much filler. Alot of the story ideas are also clearly borrowed from other sources but executed poorly. HP lovecraft, 300, pirated of the Caribbean, star wars, etc...

The writers are also 100% sexist. Every female character is significantly weaker or less intelligent than the males and always obsessed with one of the males. I speculate they are homophobic as well...to many rape scenes but weird there is no male on male rape scenes or female on male or female on female. Makes it seem more like a fetish than realistic depiction of human sickness.

Overall id say this entire series is a disappointment, every character is either a simp, a psychopath, or comic relief and most have no motivation or will of their own making them one dimensional tools. There are several characters who slaughter or are responsible for the death of hundred's or thousands and its casually brushed off with no actual consequence leaving the reader confused when the character decides to completely change their personality without explaining why. There is no established moral or ethical hierarchy making the story a giant ambiguous gray area which takes away greatly from being invested in the story. The writing seems like it just wants to emotionally manipulate the reader into continuing to read it with no plan to ever end the story.

I absolutely hate how they write Griffith, and Casca and more recently Guts.

I theorize the end of the story (if there ever is one) will be horrible, like Guts forgiving Griffith while he has his way with Casca again...🤢🤮

This deserves to be way higher than FireForce on the scoreboards. The topics are alot darker and the outcomes more realistic than most anime. Thats probably why some "people" have a problem with it. The fights are not really there but the story plot and voice acting are decent. The art style is beautiful and the darker tone is refreshing. The characters are not at all one dimensional and seem more akin to real people in their actions and desires. The protagonist is a bit of a simp at the start and most of his suffering could have been avoided if he grew a pair ... early on. The protagonist is also weirdly self righteous and hypocritical but he hides it behind his edge lordship (who is he to decide what demons live or die?). I do appreciate that not all the demons are presented as one dimensional. Some of them are just trying to live peaceful lives while others are chaos incarnate. I do wish they would clarify the nature of demons a bit more Im interested to see were the series goes and will be reading the manga.

I haven't read the manga and i most likely never will at this point. The show flipped from being a show about a skilled sword master so hard it was gross. At this point its just another generic harem anime were the protagonists is somehow in his forties and still clueless. Everything about this anime is generic, from the character designs to the dialogue. The fight scenes are bellow sub par and are often boring. The characters have the complexity of a single celled organism. The animation is lazy and the art style is boring. The plot is so generic and cliche you can literally ... guess whats going to happen five minutes into every episode. The most unrealistic part is how shallow and one dimensional all the characters are, its insane and none of them actually have any valid reason for crushing on the main protagonist; Its soooo bad. The main character is basically oblivious to all his former students literally throwing themselves at him for no reason, dudes a 40 year old sword master virgin but were expected to believe he will make a good father? im sorry if you lack the basic emotional intelligence to be able to tell if a woman’s interested in you, you probably shouldn’t be raising kids let alone a traumatized teenage girl. (bad writing all around) Its like its trying to be a romance, shonnen, slice of life, harem, comedy anime combined and failing at all of them.

I haven’t read the manga and the third season makes me never want to. Absolutely terrible third season with horrible writing and pacing and sub par animation compared to season 2. Episode 8 and 9 are a complete waste of time that does nothing to advance the plot or add to the story, i guess its supposed to be funny but is not at all. I actually don't understand how this anime scored so high it hasn't done anything to warrant a score of 8. The fight scenes are lame compared to season 2 so far. There is a ridiculous amount of unnecessary padding and ... filler. For example character standing still while only mouth is animated and the camera slowly pans for minutes at a time, unnecessary flashbacks for minor events. The world is supposed to be coming to an end and the characters just acting like its a normal Tuesday which makes the show have no weight or gravity or sense or urgency. Then they add jokes is the middle of what are supposed to be serious moments ruining the scenes and tone. If i had to describe this season in one sentence it be Just "an overall disappointment". I don't think it will improve in the three episodes left. I wagger they will have an all out fight in the last episode/s that they spend their entire budget animating and thats garbage to me because it means everything up until then is half assed.
