You can't respect and love something you have paid to be prematurely tortured and killed, just to be eaten. It's like saying a rapist could respect it's victim, it's an oxymoron because there's a disagreeing victim. The victim won't care how much you thank them, you're doing something against their will and wellbeing. Just don't do it.

It is not a necessary evil, because animal products are not necessary for humans to survive. No sentient animal must die, there's plants as the alternative.
