This second season arrived improved from the first . All around the board that is.
The fighting animation especially looked really good. If there's a complaint ... alot of the newly introduced characters aren't really used enough . Other then that i can't find anything to complain about . In particulary on the story side. You'd expect these sorta game adaptations to leave you with alot of the mystery just to entice you into playing the actual game, a sort of bait and switch situation. But not in this one. It wasn't ALL explained sure, but it was more then enough for a satisfying end to ... the anime.
Same as the first season, i recommended this one. It's a very well made game adaptations that isn't just fluff to promote . It was clearly made with care and alot of work went into it. I recommended especially if you liked the first season, since once again, this improves on everything .

Well as far as game adaptations this one's easily the best (maybe except some H-game adaptations but those are a story for another time).
The animation is it's best point by far, and that's unusual for adaptations of this kind. If i had one nitpick is that one scene with the knights at the gate... 1 random CGI , they probably ran out of time . The story is not bad..... It's a comedy in the same style like Konosuba, but it has some serious moments, unlike the former. And the plot's decent, as far as what's probably a gacha game that is. Of course when you'd compare ... it to others like FGO who also has adaptations...yeah, that's all imma say.
There's honestly not much to complain about and not much to praise in particular either. It could have been worse it could've been better as well. As far as game adaptations go, it's a good one that in my personal opinion makes me curious about the game. Might try it. AS a watch, i recommend it, it's good enough.

Well...... Honestly it took me years since i watched the first season to complete this show, and now im not that sorry. Because god damn this second season dropped the ball in almost every regard. A full blown downgrade from the first one.
The story itself wasn't really affected . It's still just as plenty intresting . But that's about what stayed the same and didn't dissapoint. The animation was a real stinker in this second season. It wasn't any masterpiece in the first, but it was good regardless. This time around however...... Terrible. Just... Terrible. And it makes sense when you look at the description and ... you find out they changed studios for whatever reason. And im not fully educated on it.. might be the studio taking liberties or it might be the material, but while the story didn't get worse, the characters sure as hell did. The ecchi scenes were all random and almost always in the worst of times, compared to the first season when they all made sense. And all the characters themselves feel like they recieved a lobotomy post-season 2. Like they lost all their personality and quirks, even their intelligence. Rem picks on the elf chick at all times, compared to the first season when it was mostly with good reason. And they wierdly tried to keep Shera's innocence a thing while she jumped from the simple fact that she lacks a sense of personal space to full on grinding on the MC. And his inner monologues in those times became far simpler and more .... pointless : "boobs "boobies". (on a side note, i have my doubts it's the author writing suddenly getting that bad when it comes to the ecchi scenes and the characters overall to be honest).
I can still recommend it, but mostly if you got invested in the story from the first season. If you liked any of the characters you might be dissapointed.

Well, i've missed a good ecchi anime so i've rewatched this first season after all these years, and this is one anime that honestly holds.
As far as isekai go this is a top contender . And im saying this unironically. Never on the level of real masterpieces like Mushoku but it's a real gem in the genre. It's also a ecchi anime that doesn't hold much back, and it's a breath of fresh air compared to most anime that appeared recently. They don't really show anything but they really limbo around that line for the most part. And lastly, it does a pretty good job of ... portraying an OP character.
The animation isn't any masterclass ,but it's solid and it still looks good. And the best part about it all is CGI only appears in like one scene, everything else is hand-drawn and i really appreciate that detail. But i guess this one was made during a time where isekai works weren't horribly mistreated by studios yet. Or the studio just took their job seriously. Not certain. Of course, the material they worked with isn't half bad itself. Most things that happen and behaviours have a reasoning , like the MC being real shy and the fact he can't talk. Most anime use that trope but never have an explanation. And he is OP, but he's also meticulous and uses his head, but he isn't some incredible genius that knows everything . One of the few times where watching an OP MC on screen didn't turn into a slog for myself, as i despise those sort of characters, as they are usually detrimental to the story . And the whole ownership part.... Idk why people complain, out of all the characters in their group he has the least ammount of agency anyways, even though he's the master . And they actually use it in a positive way for the story later on.
A great anime. AS far as isekai and ecchi anime go this one's a top watch.

Well, sadly, whatever this anime had going on in the first season is mostly gone in this second one .
More importantly, we need to mount a rescue operation of this manga's author. Because after the first season hurt our eyes with that ... "animation" , there's no way they didn't kidnap the poor guy and are holding him in a dungeon so the same studio can crap a second season.
I couldn't believe it was possible when it was basically a slideshow for most of it's runtime, but they succeded . This second season looks way worse then the first .The main culprit has to be ... the CGI. It's everywhere. The monsters are CGI, the people are CGI, even the MC is CGI at this point. And it's the most atrocious CGI i've ever seen in an anime, and they are subpar on the average as it is. But with this one, it looks like it was put in front of a green screen before being animated with like 2 fps.
That being said, the story is once again pretty decent, although it did took a turn for the worse as well in some regards. Of course, the worse part is THE MC... You thought it was Kirito , but NO, IT WAS ME RIO,worse in every way you can imagine. They made him fully embrace the dollar store Kirito persona he's got going on.Only wearing kirito's black coat(i did say jacket in my first review my apologies) throughout the entire season. And slight spoiler since i really gotta call this... That whole not revealing to Miharu he's that Haruto... Only to name drop randomly at the end so she can have no time to think about it... Jesus Christ.
What can i say.... I can't recommend this second season unless you're invested in the story from the first season. Or you got a morbid curiosity. Otherwise just ... Don't .

I am torn. Really i am torn. This anime is all over the place story-wise. Slight spoilers so i can actually make an argument really.
Well... The world building is allright i suppose,it's just coherent enough so i don't have a stroke... The story... Full of cliches, all of them used in the worst ways possible honestly. Especially the ones revolving around the MC. The MC.... Dollar store Kirito. Whatever complaints you had about Kirito as a character this guy is the embodiment of those. It's even the same voice actor for gods sake... They GAVE HIM THE DAMN BLACK JACKET.... At lest in SAO it ... wasn't so out of place.... but where this guy goes and wears it... it stands out like a sore thumb. Glad he also got that sword from the elder to use 2 random knives in the finale by the way.... Honestly, whenever the MC is involved the story takes a dive in the Mariana Trench. There's always somebody who goes to mustache twirling villain lengths to pick on the guy, and there's always some chick who starts crying herself to sleep over this guy... Not to mention he actually makes it clear he isn't intrested that one time but we never find out why actually.... Dude's OP AF and it's annoying, and he's also good at everything, you name it he's the master of.
If the MC isn't involved? All the characters actually make sound and logic moves and plans. The bad guy with the dragon eggs, the way the demi-humans captured him with blindess and stuff..... The politics when he isn't involved.... It's nothing revolutionary but it just feels so natural and in place when Dollar Kirito isn't involved is crazy. This is what a real power fantasy anime feels like ladies and gents, not the ones you thought about till now. And the fact when he isn't involved that things feel so natural shows that the writing has the chance to be good.
Now... The animation is same old same old isekai slop number 5 animation. Reused frames minimal effort cutting to not show the move and the impact..... Every spell barely being recognizable, old man using Clarent Blood Arthur at the end, that aura on literally every character .... Atrocious insult to the eyes. Hope every studio that turns what could be a half-decent watch into a sludgefest to hit bankrupcy like yesterday.
And on a tangent unrelated .... Honest to god, first season Kirito(OG) was a good character. And Gun Gale Arc. Tangent over.
Honestly it's a decently intresting watch even among other isekai....With an actual MC it would've been an easy 8 or 9 on story alone. I'd say you could watch it. Just keep expectations to a minimum and you'll be good.

Well.... The story of an assassin/child solider of a secret organization is something wild to turn into a slice of life. The implication alone from the initial setup would usually make it seem like this is gonna be one of those sad anime. Or maybe that's an opinion i got by myself.... They had plenty of good ideeas to play ball with, but they decided to stab it and watch it deflate .
The story features Xue, one of the best assassins hired by the secret organization Shadow Wizard Money Gang- i mean Dragon Nine ,my apologies. Dragons and stealth don't go hand in hand by ... the way.
In truth, the whole show felt somewhat off. They clearly didn't intend for the story to not be taken seriously to some extent ,but they couldn't manage to make any one scene have weight. Everything was surface level, from the backstory to the execution and the implication of that supposed dark background. Half-way through they brought the whole Yuki's sister plot point, and just as fast they forgot about it.And most of the story was told from Yuki's POV, but then we suddenly switch to the MC towards the end.... My god the MC..... i honestly prefer the simply dense protags over this guy..... Who's just terrible. We get the fact that Yuki's tied to the family in a way or another first episode. And then in the last scenes MC's acting like his father hearing about her is some crazy conspiracy . And the way he thinks and acts... Gave me a stroke. But hey, the visuals were nice ... at times !
And the ending? THAT ENDING? WHAT?
Honestly there's nothing besides the good visuals and the art keeping this anime afloat.... The premise could've taken a hundred different more intresting paths. They choose the only one that results in mediocrity. I guess if you turn your brain off and just look at the pretty pictures you could enjoy it, otherwise.... Avoid it man.... And i really hate saying this since i had big expectations from this anime.

Spectacle. When i think about this anime this is what comes to my mind. A spectacle. Flashy and good looking animation . This is the driving force behind this show. But even in that category it's not without fault.
What i mean by that is simple. The fights themselves. While the animation was polished to no end,and looked good on screen, the finer movements weren't pronounced. For example when the squigly bugs attack the people... the weight behind those blows is severly lacking . They didn't feel like they got smashed , they felt like they got hit with a delete ray.... It's hard to explain honestly. ... Animators with a lot of talent but no experience i guess? But when it comes to the big flashy animations they hit the jackpot, the arrival in the final episode when that effect happend on screen (trying to sound vague as to not spoil and stuff) , it was gorgeous. It all peaked in the final episode.
Now that the animation discussion is out of the way...... What about the story? Well... Generic. That's the harshest criticism i can give. The finer details aren't upsetting . But overall it's very generic, but just intresting enough to keep you watching . It makes sense though, given the theme of the anime i guess.... And while i dislike these sort of everybody's fine endings.... It wierdly made sense in the story. It wasn't a true happy ending ,it was more like a reset button got hit. Everybody was returned from the nothingess of the Void. It was intentionally made this generic i believe(the story),but also coherent.
Honestly ,i enjoyed it. It's not much to think about...... And the only direction i can see a continuation to the story going is a spin-off series, with the adventures of the people in the anime arriving in the real world, and some explanation as to where the void and those creatures come from, because honestly they weren't explained even tho they were a rather intresting point in a generic story and all.

I had no ideea what to expect from a show with this premise.... But what i am certain is that i was pleasantly surprised. A paranormal comedy about apparations and wonders of the school. Talk about unusual combinations.
The main premise of the show is the paranormal and legends about the apparations of japan. With one of the most popular, enough at least to be recognized not just in the country, but around the globe as well. I've seen myself plenty of iterations and takes on the Toilet Spirit Hanako(mostly in NSFW games and other forms of similar media actually :">) and this is another twist ... on it's origins. With a ... i can't really say now if it's a less or more tragic then the original, as the mystery is still in full swing. I'd like to see far more anime about this topic, the merging of fiction and reality, legends and people's takes on them.... But i suppose these stories are in their element because of their rarity and all. Like roughing up a book to make it look older and more important .
The greatest discerning quality though doesn't come from the story, but the animation. Really standing out even among most other anime. In a good way this time. The animation rather suffers though. The atmosphere is also on point, the story is good, the comedy hits; i honestly can't find any faults in this show. It's not anything groundbreaking or a masterpiece in the making ,but it's still a very solid anime and a good time investment.
This is a rather short and vague review... But when the mystery and the story play such a vital role this much makes sense. A good and intresting watch. Unless all you want is action then ... yeah. I recommend.

Isekai slop, cliche collector. These are words that perfectly describe this anime . I felt the weight of my feet dragging while i watched this show.
I am aware that in most cases, anime do changes in most of the cases from the original material. The same happens sometimes in the transition between light novels and mangas. So i do not know for certain if the reading material is as bad as this anime was. I am willing to give it the benefit of the doubt, especially considering how isekai is treated for the most part . As pure slop. Of course.... The story has plenty of ... isssues, from the insanely rapid pacing, to the MC becoming instantly overpowered and invincible...... The lack of personality on most characters, as they rotate around the MC,only existing for his sake...... The world building is ... nothing appalling like some other cases , even has some unique caveats but nothing groundbreaking.
But now we reach the real sin of this show. The animation. Terrible. Horrendous. Both low budget and low effort. Most spells had no distinction outside of elements, the impact in-between blows from the sword segments was non-existent. The sound quality was just meh... The creatures were the same reused assets... Peaking in the final episodes where they used the head of that red dragon to create some worm-like creatures poppin from the ground or something.... Just an insult to the eyes. The truth is most isekai slop or not would still be a decent watch and a decent experience with some good animation . At this point the studios who keep picking these up and throwing them under the bus with this upfront to humanity they call an animation should just give up alltogheter.
I don't know, maybe the material they used has better pacing in manga form, some good looking s..... This animation really didn't motivate me to check it out.. Maybe i will someday. But until then... I just can't recommend this even to the time.
