If you want a hyper-compressed version of everything that has happened up to episode 11 while listening to Futari roast the hell out of her sister, then sure, watch this. There's no real reason not to. The only issue that I have is that it is stupidly difficult to find a place to watch this on. Like seriously none of the major streaming services have this. Honestly though, this is just a filler episode that's only good if you want to 100% BTR, if you want a real recap of the series just watch the movies. They have way more content, original scenes, and are ... overall just a better summary.

I'll be quick and simple here. It's fine. The anime starts off with a strong hook with pretty funny running gags (opening doors horizontally, cream puffs) that last throughout the entire series while still being funny, the scenes transition from being serious to funny very smoothly, the characters are some of the most likeable and genuinely well written I've ever seen, the fight scenes are always very satisfying to watch, and the animation is simple but works really well with the theme of the anime. What I don't like is how Mashle the MC never really grows as a character. Sure, he faces his fair ... share of challenges and issues, but he generally stays the same how he is throughout the entire series. Another issue is that there isn't really any arcs throughout the season. A story starts at the beginning of the episode, and ends at the end of the episode. No buildup, no prep, nothing. Thankfully, this issue is solved in S2. Overall, if you just want to watch a pretty braindead anime that doesn't get too deep or traumatize its viewers, then this is a pretty good option. If you want something for more depth though, this isn't really the best option (try One Punch Man).

On surface level, this anime seems like any other generic music anime about how a group of girls want to be the best, but actually, this might be one of the best SOL and comedy anime of the year. (Make sure to read the synopsis before reading this since I won't be explaining the plot anywhere in this.)
TL:DR
Bocchi The Rock is an S tier anime with amazing character design and development, extremely well composed music, and is overall just a very relatable and funny anime about social anxiety and music.
Characters (Design and Development)
Starting with design, I've seen a lot of people say that their really ... basic and cliche, but honestly, I think that adds to it. Because of the cliches, you can tell just by looking at their designs exactly who their meant to be. Take Ryou for example. From the moment she's introduced, You can tell a lot of who she is just by looking at her. Very dull grey colours, bored expression, walking like a zombie, etc. BTR does this for all of its characters, from Bocchi herself all the way to random girls in the background that show up in a single episode. They all have relatively unique designs that aren't over the top and just very simple. You can also tell who's important to the plot based off whether they have vibrant, coloured hair or not, which is nice just for clarification purposes. While we're on the topic of designs though, fanservice!; there is none. No beach episode, nobody gets walked in on, nothing. I'm honestly surprised that the animators didn't try to milk this as much as possible, so good job on them for not sexualizing 15-16 year olds.
As for the actual development, this isn't as glowing as their design. Don't get me wrong, it's still very good (like 8/10), but it can definitely be improved though. For one, Bocchi is really the only one who actually grows as a person, since the whole plot kind of revolves around her and her social anxiety. They do do this REALLY well though. It's slow, but every time that she builds up the confidence to do something, every time she's able to make eye with someone, or being able to say something without spontaneously combusting, it always feels like a small victory and it's always very satisfying to watch. For everyone else, however, all of their progressions is essentially set in stone. Kita is the only other character who really grows other than Bocchi, but even then it's very difficult to notice unless your paying attention to her character. Everyone else has already kind of had their opportunities and whatnot, Ryou is always referring to her past experiences and whatnot but we never actually get to see any of it which honestly is a pretty big missed opportunity.
Animation
The animation normally is actually pretty average, however it's during some of the gag scenes and performance scenes where it really shines. I don't play the guitar or anything, but apparently when they play their instruments, they actually play the correct notes and everything. As for the gag scenes, that is when the animation (or lack thereof) really shines. They animation style could radically change in the middle of an episode, and this is when you can really tell how much effort and care the animators put into this thing. Sometimes the art style will change to Dragonball Z, sometimes they won't even use animation and it'll be live action. Sometimes, Bocchi will get downgraded into a 3D model and get thrown at a wall. You really never know with this anime. There's also a lot of references to other anime too.
Music and Audio
Being a music anime, they of course have an amazing soundtrack, and they use it really well. During the performance scenes, you can hear it when they get nervous and make mistakes, and you can also hear it when their locked in and playing incredibly well. I don't want to spoil anything, but at the part where #### uses bottleneck playing, you can hear how it sounds different from what they normally sound like. As for the music itself, it slaps. Even the lyrics in the songs have extra details and meanings if you pay attention, and you can hear the characters own personal experiences shine through with each one. Another thing is that the songs are actually REAL. After the first season was completed, they ed a 14 song album for the anime, filled with the full versions of all the songs as well as a few new ones, so go check them out (the channel is called Kessoku Band and it's on YouTube).
Summary
Overall, the anime is really good. Because most of the humor in this is about social anxiety and not being able to talk to people, If you actually have decent social skills and your able to talk to people without turning to ash, then this show probably isn't for you, and that's okay. For everyone else though, for the people who overthink everything they do, for the people who randomly get traumatic flashbacks of something dumb you did 4 years ago, then you might want to give Bocchi a try. You may end up finding a new favourite anime. None of this is to say that BTR is perfect, and I think that the anime does have its fair share of issues (I'll let other reviewers cover that). But in my opinion, this is certified peak fiction.

This is exactly what you'd expect it to be. It's a summary of most of the events in the anime. It's not bad exactly, but it skips over a lot of scenes and misses a ton of the character development and gags. For example, at the end of the second episode, they skipped the scene where Bocchi manages to make eye with a customer and serves them without having a mental breakdown. It isn't really a big deal since the scene isn't exactly significant to the plot and she's not able to do anything similar to it for the rest of the season, but ... BTR is infamous for it's microscopic details. But because this is a recap, they don't have time for it. Again, it's not horrible, even for a recap they manage to get in a lot of the smaller gags and details, but if you've never seen BTR before then you definitely should not watch this. That being said, if you have watched BTR before, then yeah, might as well watch this if you've forgotten the plot before season 2. Just put it on 2x speed.
