This story has a lot of potential for great storytelling. Walking is the only way the mc can gain skills, so he travels the world by foot, meeting people, eating new things and the like. Such is the fantasy of many people in real life; Leave their jobs, travel the world, meet people and learn from others.

Personally, such fantasy is not what fills up my thoughts through the day. But this story, albeit for the little time I take to read new chapters, makes me fantasize not about walking the world per se, but to see the wonders nature has and people have made.

To ... pique my interest enough that I would find myself expecting new chapters is an easy feat. I am not, by any means, a picky reader. But to stimulate my imagination enough to blend with my thoughts, ambitions and goals, is another feat few mangas make me feel.

Not that mangas are supposed to make you imagine the world of the story, since they are drawings. But I'm not one to reject a little fantasy in my day.

“Sex-sells” - I always had to think of this saying with “Isekai Walking”. Generally a rather generic story, with generic protagonists, generic artwork, etc. I had fun with it - but why? What sold this manga so well?

In “Isekai Walking”, a young man named Sora is summoned and directly kicked out by the king because he only has a skill called “walking”. But what the king didn't know was that this skill has the side effect that every step you take increases your level! So when he does the obvious and walks around, he discovers how beautiful this fantasy world is - so why not ... travel it?

And it's this journey that sells the manga. If you want a story that ignores the story and characters and simply shows the beautiful, fascinating aspects of a journey, then you'll have fun with “Isekai Walking”. The manga here isn't perfect either - e.g. the villages, forests and other places that are visited seem far too normal, at least to me, for exploring a fantastic fantasy world - but I don't know of any other manga that really focuses entirely on the journey in a classic fantasy world. Stories like “Kino's Journey” or “Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill” are better overall, but only go in a similar direction.

Other than that, this manga is very mediocre, quite detailed - or lame, depending on whether the glass is half full or half empty - and pretty meaningless.
Nevertheless, I had fun with Sora's journey, even though it felt like it had only just begun and so not much happened.

The translated chapters of this manga have recently been taken over by an Official team, so officially the story ends at chapter 82 until the real scans catch up. Sadly that will be a very long time, so I am dropping this manga after the review.

This Isekai series is most likely the most ordinary among the majority of the titles out there. No overpowered skills, nothing over the top, no life-changing efforts or drive. In this story, the MC is about as regular as anyone can be, possibly the closest deal to a regular Joe.

In turn, this makes him quite naive, exposed to shortcomings, and ... unaware of a lot of things. Naturally, this type of con is irritating, yet when you examine it on a closer level, it is what defines him as "normal."

If anything, this manga serves as a reminder not all Isekai characters are given insane powers like some of the headliners. There will always be some with powers considered ordinary or next to normal.

In this, this manga is okay! It's just in the middle really, it's over the top or truly bad. You get an average MC, we average powers, and it comes with an average development, etc.
