Synopsis

Second-year high school student Reo Mikage wants nothing more than to escape his illustrious family's shadow by becoming a soccer star and winning the World Cup. The only thing that's missing is a talented diamond in the rough who can help him achieve his dream. That's when he sets his sights on Seishiro Nagi, a notorious slacker whose quick reflexes are the only hint of athletic ability. Can Reo find the switch to awaken the beast inside Nagi?

True to its title, this spinoff tells the story of Nagi's journey in Blue Lock - though with how significant of a role Reo plays in Nagi's journey, Reo can be considered akin to being the second protagonist of the story. The first chapter starts off right after Nagi and Reo make their promise to play football together and shows how the two became a powerful duo pre-Blue Lock, continuing on to how they got invited into Blue Lock and how they ed the selections. Very interesting manga. This is basically a spin-off, but in the eyes of both Nagi and Reo. Which in my opinion is really fun and interesting, we get to see how both Nagi and Reo started the journey, like Isagi did in the original Blue Lock series.
It does not have anything extremely new, but it shows a different perspective really well.
I really love this manga and I am super curious how this one will continue, but as of now (7 chapters in. I am extremely hyped!

Just a reminder, this is a preliminary review, so read this knowing the context it's in

This manga is the perfect out for people who hate NEL, like me.

Whatever is missing from current Blue Lock (NEL) is in here. My opinion, even tho I don't like yaoi, is that Blue Lock actually needs to be in between yaoi and sigma phonk edits to be good, and that's exactly what this manga gives us.
