Kimi ni Todoke 2nd Season

After a momentous New Year's vacation and with Valentine's Day approaching, Sawako Kuronuma is beginning to get along with her classmates. However, now that Sawako has realized her romantic feelings for the popular Shouta Kazehaya, she grows hesitant toward giving him obligatory chocolates and decides to not give him any. In turn, Kazehaya, who likes Sawako, feels a distance between them.

As February ends and April arrives, the second year of high school begins for Sawako. Luckily, she ends up in the same class as her friends Ayane Yano and Chizuru Yoshida, along with Kazehaya and his friend Ryuu Sanada, in addition to the newcomer named Kento Miura. When Kento develops an interest in Sawako, Sawako and Kazehaya's feelings for each other are put to the test.

So yeah, after wrapping up Season 1, I honestly couldn't sit still — I had to start Season 2 right away. The slow-burn build-up between Sawako and Kazehaya had already pulled me in so deep, I was practically begging the universe, “Please let these two finally figure it out!” And guess what? They did. And it was beautiful.

Season 2 is shorter — just 12 episodes — but every single one felt emotionally charged and meaningful. I actually liked that they trimmed down the side stories and zoomed in more on the relationship itself. It was like all the emotions that had been simmering under the ... surface in Season 1 finally started bubbling up. Sometimes awkwardly, sometimes painfully slow, but always, always genuine.

There’s a lot of misunderstanding between them in this season too — and yeah, a part of me was like, Come on, guys, TALK to each other! But at the same time, it felt realistic. Especially if you've ever liked someone so much that even the thought of expressing it made you freeze up or overthink every word — it hits hard. I’ve been there in real life, that awkward stage of "Do they like me? What if I’m wrong?" and the way the show handled it… I felt seen.

What really struck me was how raw Sawako’s feelings were. Like there’s this moment — you’ll know it when you see it — where she finally confesses, and it’s not some grand romantic scene under fireworks or anything, but it’s so emotionally satisfying. I actually paused the episode, leaned back, and just smiled like an idiot. I think I even said “Finally!” out loud.

Kazehaya too, man… you really get to see more of his internal world. He’s not just the nice guy anymore — he’s frustrated, confused, and also kind of scared to push things forward. That vulnerability made me respect him more. Their relationship wasn’t all sunshine, it had its share of rain too — and that made the sunny moments shine brighter.

Also, let’s talk about the ing characters again. Yano and Chizu continue to be the MVPs of friendship — the way they ed Sawako while also nudging her in the right direction was heartwarming. Kurumi makes a bit of a comeback too, and while I didn’t like her much in Season 1, I lowkey respected her a bit more here. She had her own bittersweet moment and it felt very human.

Visually, still stunning. The soft color palette, the dreamy transitions, those gentle piano scores — it felt like being wrapped in a warm blanket. Honestly, there’s something about Kimi ni Todoke that just soothes the soul. Like a quiet night under the stars kind of vibe.

In the end, this season gave me the closure I didn’t even realize I was craving. Watching them finally become a couple — after all the buildup, the hesitation, the character growth — was so damn satisfying. It didn’t feel forced or dramatic. It just… happened. Like it was always meant to be.

So yeah, if Season 1 was the journey of discovering love, Season 2 is the journey of understanding it — and for me, it was absolutely perfect.

10/10. No second thoughts. Just pure, soft, heartwarming romance. If you’ve already watched Season 1, don’t even hesitate — Season 2 is the reward your heart’s been waiting for.

It is noted that the quality of the animation increased even if only a little, even so they also lengthen the main plot too much, which is the romance between our two protagonists, from the beginning they made a conflict with two characters to further lengthen the plot (one of them its existence is only to create love conflict for the protagonist), it really extends what we all want to see (the confession) unnecessarily, they could have done it in only 4 episodes and it would have been good (besides, it would no longer be necessary to put another type to lengthen the season), although ... the season fulfills its mission, I think they could have made it shorter or even in some other case release a movie instead of this season.
It's worth it only if you want to see how this love story ends, but also if you just want to see that, skip all the episodes until episode 10, plus the ending is a bit disappointing, on the bad side.

Se nota que subió la calidad de la animación aunque sea solo un poco, aun así también alargan demasiado la trama principal que es el romance entre nuestros dos protagonistas, desde el inicio hicieron un conflicto con dos personajes para alargar más la trama (uno de ellos su existencia es solo crear conflicto amorosos para la protagonista), de verdad que se extiende lo que todos queremos ver (la confesión) innecesariamente, pudieron haberlo hecho en solo 4 episodios y hubiera estado bien (ademas de que ya no sería necesario meter a otro tipo para alargar la temporada), aunque cumple su cometido la temporada creo que pudieron haberlo hecho más corta o hasta en algún otro caso sacar una película en lugar de está temporada.
Vale la pena solo si quieres ver en qué concluye está historia de amor, pero también si solo quieres ver eso sáltate todos los episodios hasta el episodio 10, además de que es un poco decepcionante el final tirando a malo.

Just stop after season 1 and you're fine.

I gave the first season a stellar 10 and here's a 'bad' rating for the second season, a 4, a "less than mid" score. In many ways this is a 1, but... There's a point to what it does, but how it delivers and moves the story along is disastrous.

It rips everything away that was achieved, replacing it with contrived and frustrating drama that comes off as completely unrealistic.
Worse, it leaves you feeling distrustful of what's going on because the story goes out of its way to disappoint your expectations and almost becomes predictably pessimistic and negative. ...
It takes a first season of what was a comfortable warmth and replaces it with a mess just to stretch out the inevitable conclusion.

This is not a matter of taste, this is poor writing, the second season is narratively dissonant to what came before it.
Characters act like they've swallowed an idiot pill. The ing cast is always somewhere else when it's crucial they're there and conveniently they never ask because suddenly it's more respectful not to ask or say anything, when before it was to do what was right, because "daisuki".

After a first season stretching over the course of half a year, the second season immediately skips two month from where the first season left off with zero development to valentine's day and then skips another two months right after. Before every day mattered and now there's this gigantic double time skip that completely ruins the conclusion of the first season where Sadako got a phone to keep in touch with her friends and Kazehaya - a phone that she learned to be on the initiative with. All gone. Why? So that the season can end on the school festival in 12 episodes.

The themes of standing up for yourself and speaking the truth despite feelings are all gone and instead of clearing up misunderstandings, which was the strong point of season 1, they create more. Sadako becomes obtuse and cripplingly insecure. Kazehaya becomes a crybaby wimp.
People ask Sadako a question that's hard to answer and a quarter of a second later when she doesn't immediately reply, they walk away with a "ah, I understand" attitude despite the self same characters knowing that she needs a while to get her words together, because that's how she reacts when faced with a perspective she hadn't thought about.

This all makes for a broken and unlikable experience and it lasts for most of the season before the final 4 or so episodes where you can't trust what's going on anymore.
You've been served a turd on a plate eight times in a row and now the show finally serves you what you asked for. Are you going to eat it? It'll taste pretty good in comparison, but was it really worth it?

Well... kind of.
It's not the ending that matters anymore, because that's no longer the story the writer wanted to tell.
The story is "why" the two characters love each other and to push that question through a painful process to get a worthy answer.
Practically the answer isn't worth it. You've just watched 160 minutes of misery to get an okay answer and frankly I don't think it was worth the time.

That's why this season isn't unwatchable, but why it's definitely bad.
