The anime actually starts quite strong. The characters although generic seem quite likable, and plot's easy to follow. The few starting episodes are very well-animated and the action sequences are quite a sight to behold. But somehow the anime fumbles the story afterwards. The story is suddenly ripped apart from the main story to a side story that's very in-cohesive and incoherent at times. The power scaling completely falls apart. Every new "enemy" that gets introduced completely lacks character and just feels bland. Even the side characters completely fall flat compared to the first parts of the anime.

All in all, it's an enjoyable anime if ... you temper your expectations.

Mixed Feelings

Preliminary (7/12 eps)

I'm 7 episodes in and I fell that it's fine. It completely depends on your expectations though.

Let's start with cons. First of all, the story in this show is basically non-existent. We get the basic premise in the first 2 episodes and that's the driving force for the main character. The premise is as cliche as it gets: "I am going to protect you!". There's not much more to it. Although on that note, the enigmatic character from the beginning of the story reappears and at this point I cannot tell whether the plot will develop or not. Since I'm already over half way in, ... I highly doubt it will happen though.

Oh and the plot item with it's mechanics - idea is fine, I don't think I've seen much of it before, but it's nothing too original. It's just another rip-off of your basic RPG power-up system. Again, it has it's backgroud that is meaningless at this point of the show.

Dialogues are weird. Even though there is not much plot to begin with and there's barely any complexity to it, sometimes it feels hard to follow. Maybe it's me getting lost in the Chinese names, since I'm not used to watching to non-Japanese productions, but at times the show introduces this weird background net of connections between people, that is ultimately useless. Sometimes it feels forcefully stiched together. Random "comedic" lines are randomly thrown here and there, completely not matching the setting or situation. Nor the MC to be honest, being a "funny guy" just doesn't fit him.

Characters? Basic. Basic "I'm gonna push myself to save you" protagonist, basic caring girlfriend, basic bully/gang mob antagonists with a sprinkle of psychos and superpowers. Not much to write home about.

Now for the pros (I guess?). Action. The series is basically packed to the brim with combat. For the most part we're talking about hand-to-hand combat with boosted strength. Sometimes some fancier powers appear. I must say, it is pretty satifying, especially one of the latest episodes I've seen, which contained a 15 minutes of well animated 1 on 1 fight. That's probably the only thing that really keeps me interested in the next episode.

Visually it's nothing too exciting, but the fights feel real pleasant to the eye. Other than action, it's pretty basic with oddly drawn character face here and there (I think it's supposed to be comedic gag, but with how bad the dialogues are, it's hard to catch on...).

I can't say much for audio, cause I barely hear differences between shows, unless it's exceptionally good or exceptionally bad. It's neither, so I guess it's a plus.

The story had potential—it’s unique and not entirely predictable. But that’s where the positives end. The execution is poor, and there’s virtually no story build-up. Events just happen without proper pacing or explanation, making it hard to stay engaged.
The characters are one-dimensional and lack any real development. There’s no emotional depth, no realistic reactions, and absolutely no growth. They felt more like placeholders than people.
The only saving grace is the animation. Visually, it's smooth and polished. The action scenes are well-done and enjoyable to watch, but they can’t carry the entire show on their own. Good animation means nothing if the story and characters fall ... flat.
Overall, it’s a disappointing experience. If you care about story or character development, you’ll likely walk away frustrated. The action is the only reason to check this out, but even that isn’t enough to make up for the weak writing.
