Ever wondered what Tokyo Revengers would be like if it were good? Well, look no further. Windbreaker is the best delinquent anime I’ve seen and one of the best of the season. Cloverworks’ latest project has amazing production values, badass fights and cool characters. A must watch for action fans.

Windbreaker is a meathead’s paradise. First episode had one of the coolest fights of the season. Within the first 6 episodes we had our first battle arc, etc. This show has nonstop hands flying and it looks great! The story isn’t the strongest so far, but it’s got a lot of potential and it seems they ... want to focus on developing the MC and establishing his relationships with the side characters first, which I actually think in the long run will be better. This creates a stronger emotional bond between the viewer and characters and even by the end of this first cour, I felt like Sakura was my little brother and just wanted him to succeed. While it’s obviously severely dramatised, I also found the whole concept of Bofurin to be cool. A school gang that just wants to act as a police force and help out the community. There’s no desire to grow into the biggest gang in Japan or dominate the underworld or anything like that. It’s a very wholesome premise and you just want to root for these guys.

Now, just like Tokyo Revengers it does require a little bit of suspension of disbelief to enjoy windbreaker. Police officers, teachers and adults seem to not exist in this world. I mean we’ve seen these kids in school for an entire cour now and I haven’t seen one teacher.. but you know, that aside, good show. It’s a very grounded story that at its course revolves around the MC learning to open up and be vulnerable with people. He’s got the traditional macho guy persona and thinks he can fight his way out of every situation and muscle his way to the top of Bofurin, but what he learns over time is that there’s so much more to being the strongest than just physical strength. It’s about those bonds we form with others that give us the motivation we need to push forward and be the best versions of ourselves. Thanks to the fights in this season, he begins to realise that and it was fun seeing him open his mind to the world.

I think windbreaker is definitely aimed at the ladies somewhat, lots of nice looking guys, MC is constantly flustered and looking cute because of how bashful he is, etc etc. So female shippers and meatheads alike can enjoy windbreaker. It actually almost feels like it was made for the tumblr crowd, similar to Dunmeshi. It’s got a little something for everyone though. Action, ships, just a cool ass vibe in this one that I haven’t really seen.

Cloverworks are known for their fluid action scenes and Windbreaker is no exception, this show looks amazing. The fights are of course good, but I mean even minor scenes like Sakura chasing a cat through an alley are full of Sakuga. I’d be lying if I said that weren’t a big part of the windbreaker experience. If it were done by another studio would it have the same type of reception? Probably not. But, hey, good animation has to count for something in this medium.

Windbreaker is a very fun watch for anyone who’s into yanki or delinquent style shows, wants cute guys doing cute stuff or just meathead action fans who want to see some amazing fight choreography. The story isn’t the most profound, but it was good enough for me to stay entertained and the characters are awesome.

Windbreaker gets 9 out of 10.

I'll be honest.
I thought this anime would be like Tokyo Revengers, with its delinquent theme. But where Tokyo Revengers lost me on the first episode, Wind Breaker had me reading the manga up to the latest chapters. So when I finally watched it, I was not disappointed.
This was a very faithful adaptation to the source material.
The voice castings for the characters are truly amazing, as most of them happened to be some of my all-time favourite voice actors.
The opening is spectacular! I have it on my playlist as Natori did not disappoint with his music.
The visuals are what you would expect from CloverWorks. ... The backgrounds are pretty neat, the character close-ups look amazing and the fight scenes look nice.
However, this does have some issues with characters and dialogue here and there, I've grown fond of the show.
While heavily flawed, Sakura is a great character as he learns more about something with every experience and fight.
In my opinion, this anime is about the power of friendship done right. You cannot rely on your strength alone in a brawl, or life in general.

I didn't like it.

I was prepared to like 'Wind Breaker', but it didn't. I started the anime thinking it was going to be about gangs and honor and fights and all that. But... I discovered an anime about winning fights with the power of friendship and knowing and accepting yourself. There's nothing wrong with that, but in this case it feels childish and incoherent.

I have no problem with stereotypical characters, but in the case of 'Wind Breaker', they offer nothing more than the stereotype. I don't like any of the characters, I don't care about any of them.

As the plot progressed, I started ... to get confused. Is that what this season was going to be about? Is that all? Nothing happens in the season. There's a lot of "fights", but there's no real plot beyond, as I mentioned, the power and importance of friendship and all that.

I don't understand what the Furin is. Are there no teachers? No classes? What do a group of teenagers do without supervision and no plans for the future, at least to finish school? (I feel old thinking about this but I can't stop thinking about it.)

The idea is interesting, but the development is not. The beginning is not that bad, but as the anime progresses, it becomes boring and more boring.

No me gustó.

Estaba preparada para que me gustara 'Wind Breaker', pero no fue así. Empecé el anime pensando que iba a ser sobre pandillas y honor y peleas y todo eso. Pero... descubrí un anime sobre ganar peleas con el poder de la amistad y conocerse y aceptarse a uno mismo. No hay nada malo en eso, pero en este caso se siente infantil e incoherente.

No tengo problemas con los personajes estereotipados, pero en el caso de 'Wind Breaker', no ofrecen nada más que el estereotipo. No me gusta ninguno de los personajes, no me importa ninguno de ellos.

A medida que avanzaba la trama, empecé a confundirme. ¿De eso se trataría esta temporada? ¿Eso es todo? No pasa nada en la temporada. Hay muchas "peleas", pero no hay una trama real más allá de, como mencioné, el poder y la importancia de la amistad y todo eso.

No entiendo qué es el Furin. ¿No hay profesores? ¿Ni clases? ¿Qué hacen un grupo de adolescentes sin supervisión y sin planes de futuro, al menos para terminar la escuela? (Me siento vieja pensando en esto pero no puedo deja de pensar en ello).

La idea es interesante, pero el desarrollo no lo es. El comienzo no es tan malo, pero a medida que avanza el anime, se vuelve aburrido y más aburrido.

Wind breaker it's basically an anime about teenagers who, through unity among themselves, defend the city they live in against all possible dangers, at all costs. Creating a type of "good gang", where they also enter into territorial conflict against other possible gangs due to ideological differences. This anime tried to do well in this plot, but failed miserably,despite being generic and having other points "weak"in your story ,like any other anime, there is also something good in it. I'll explain why.

Much of the story I have already summarized previously, it is something very common to find in the anime industry, this type of plot is also not difficult to execute due to it not requiring a good level of depth in its story, with the ing of superficial characters and conflicts between gangs that can be justified by the simple fact that one group disagrees with another. I generalize this idea precisely because literally EVERY anime I've seen about gangs approaches this type of content in this way, some perform in a terrible way and others are average, mas seguem o mesmo fluxo.
The story focuses character Sakura(man, maybe the translator puts it as a woman hahaha, but it's a man) , who, due to the psychological pressure suffered during much of her life, tends not to trust any,who see that through the struggle, with an ambitious ideal, focuses on reaching the top of bofurin school. It is through this school (bofurin) that teenagers unite against the threats that may arise in the city and together, t try to face all these possible dangers. And that's it, what follows from then on in the plot is just fights and the appearance of generic gang anime characters...
It's a tiring story and tends to be ideal only for an audience of teenagers aged around 12 to 17, who like such Not necessarily, it's a bad thing, I just find it tiring, because this is common in all anime about gangs, it's like it's a copy of other anime. I think it's clear, right? What I meant; I just pointed it out here, because originality is something that doesn't exist in this anime, and this is something that is highly sought after by the public in any type of animation Japanese. 5/10









Characters

Now about the characters, as previously speculated, they are superficial, as when presenting personalities typical of any anime (and I'm not just referring to gang ones) they are tedious to the point of disturbing the experience, author uses the typical personalities of: "the angry one", "the self-centered one", "the one who lives happily", "the one who likes to fight (almost the entire cast is like that)", due to this, I couldn't take any of them seriously, and not even like anyone because of that. Due to the lack of building solid characters with lack of in introducing characters unique, become the main weak point of the anime.
is clear that the author showed no concern for originality or commitment to developing these characters, in most episodes it is tedious to follow his forgettable lines and actions.
Furthermore, the interactions between them do not help the plot either, without naturalness or with confusing lines,
resulting in a peak of boredom absolute during the episodes. Adding this to the generic plot and this superficiality, you can imagine why I wouldn't recommend this anime. 2/10








Animation/fights

In the midst of these two weaknesses mentioned before, there is only one salvation in the midst of this. I'm referring to the animation and fights choreographys.
Not only the fights but also the great animation, during the episodes, is perhaps the only good thing about this anime. Maybe it's the difference, because most gang fight animes have horrible animation, that is, with the failure of the narrative and poor execution of characters made by the author, the studio involved tries to save the anime with its clean animation and solid enough to last more than one episode, and that's a good thing. What proves my idea is pay attention to see the of the manga and compare it to the anime(a pontuação de ambos), it is clear that the studio involved saved the failure that would be this anime, through good animation and good performance in adapting in the fights.
That said, even with the studio showing this potential in adapting this anime, in its fights and with good animation, it is not enough to bring a pleasant experience, due to a lack of originality and material with a good, engaging story. It's because of the studio's good animation that perhaps audiences between 12 and 17 rated it well, or some who don't fit into that age group, just because it has good animation doesn't mean necessarily be good, the anime. 8/10








Soundtrack/sound/dubbing/scenario

The anime has an unremarkable soundtrack, the opening and ending are good, despite my dislike of the music, but that's something subjective.
The dubbing is average, the voices of most characters match their personalities and attitudes a little, some are strange but not all. The scenery is well done, the combination of colors matches the general ambiance of the anime, with city buildings well done and scene sequencing being is even good.
The good studio's performance is also clear in these aforementioned points, but I still see them as insufficient for the overall animation japanese experience. 5/10








Pleasure

It has animation that makes you want to watch and the fights are well executed, but the pleasure in watching this is momentary, because from the moment a conversation starts I feel uncomfortable. embarrassed enough to watch it interactions superficial between characters, there is not much desire to follow the episodes, But I keep watching hoping for a good outcome for this unfortunate plot, which appears to be written by a rebellious teenager from highschool.
The lack of creating something unique and with development, throughout the episodes becomes increasingly clear, with the characters' shallow ideologies of "I must protect the place I live", is something noble but at the same time not showing any pleasure in following these ideals of teenagers who think they are a typical "super hero" from a common shounen manga. It's all so superficial like saying you're going to live a fantasy, and it's tedious to the point that you just keep following it just for the fights and good animation , that's all, as it lacks an engaging plot, unfortunately. 3/10






I don't recommend this anime due to its lack of originality, mainly, but also due to the terrible characters that are presented. But if you're just looking for fights and good animation in an anime, go move forward, because here in this anime, it only has this as technical quality and that's all and nothing else.Now if you like something really engaging and developed with transparency through the unique way in which a plot about teenagers unfolds, don't watch this. Make no mistake, a well-rated anime at times , it only gets rated well because it has something good, and this in this case is the animation and fights. And nothing more than that.

🟢2024---It's Tokyo Revengers without the time travel plot and, more importantly, a very irritating main character (I mean, he's still irritating but not that much xD), so yes, a general shounen involving school hooligans fighting, is it better than TR? At first I thought so, but there was no specific plot after episode 6, ehh, it could have been better.....

📢The anime is about MC ing a school gang of typical heroes (the one who is always angry, the cool one or the cowardly one) and together with them he will defend the city from other one-dimensionally evil gangs, repeating over and over tired ... clichés about what "true strength" is " xD and yes... it's a standard, simple story that will consist of well-animated fights and stereotypically written characters, if that's enough for you, you can have fun.

At the beginning we are introduced to the characters and the school, and from the fourth episode a standard 1v1 fighting tournament begins,in every episode the same pattern, the opponent dominates --> Flashback --> the opponent loses, literally xD
In TR we had the plot that the ultra hopeless MC had to save his girlfriend using time travel and that was what the anime was about, in WB it was just random fights against the background of this one exceptionally good gang defending the city, boring.

At the beginning, this anime had the potential for a typical, banal story with an interesting main character, the first scene of the first episode announced that we would delve into the main character's psyche, his traumas and so on, eventually we got a banal character who is an archetype of tsundere, we keep repeating the same scenes all the time , MC after he helps someone and that person thanks him, starts shouting "I didn't do it for you" xD I'm complaining but it's not that bad, at least we see MC struggling with something but it could have been done a million times better, It's a pity, it could make up for the lack of a specific plot.

I complain about the "plot" and the MC, but overall you can enjoy this anime.

The rest of the characters, as I have already mentioned, are also general, but the stereotypical characters of some of them can be liked, after all, who doesn't like this seemingly calm boy who turns out to be a sadist or a nice and strong leader who becomes serious when necessary.
The plot is predictable and boring, but it's always nice to watch our good guys beat up these evil, self-righteous idiots and show them what it's like to be a victim.

You can complain about the world building, why gangs have exclusive schools and why the police don't do anything about it, in TR, from what I , schools taught normally and gangs operated outside it, here the world is empty and it seems that they exist in only these gangs and the people they defend or terrorize require a great deal of suspension of disbelief to derive pleasure from it.

To sum up:
-The plot is weak
-The characters are average
-Worldbuilding is bad

There remains only something that is the pillar of such an ordinary shounen... fights and they are done really well in this series in of animation, choreography and soundtrack.
It's a pity that the enemies are boring and unremarkable, and the main boss of the season is supposed to be a disabled, annoying kid xD
But as I wrote, beating up bad guys in this series is fun.

Turn off your brain and watch.....

TL;DR
Wind Breaker's only good merit is the action thanks to Cloverworks' production, unless you delve deeper into what the anime is about.

If you know me, most of you would be familiar with me pointing out flaws in character detail since they're mostly the bulk of what makes an anime good. Besides that, I'm just an avid fan of action anime, it's just blatantly obvious that I regularly watch them every year. It's one that I felt most comfortable with, one where many greats were born from it, ones that have made me laugh, ones that have made me cry, but it's also one where ... I have a high standard of, and it's also easy for others to fumble with the action genre, most commonly with animation issues, just being still drawings being dragged in and out of the screen that is supposed to be "action" for the audience. And having Wind Breaker on the radar, I had to personally check it out for myself.

I have a mixed view of Cloverworks in general. They have proven that they can produce good new anime series which are pretty popular mangas at that given time, especially since one of my favorite anime was My Dress-Up Darling from Cloverworks, but whenever they decided to make sequels, they would always discombobulate it to ashes just so they would never have to associate with it ever again. At least that's how I felt when they animated TPN S2 and WEP sequels (well to be clear, they were released a while ago, but ever since then I couldn't trust Cloverworks anymore when it came to hyped sequels.) So when Wind Breaker was announced to be animated by Cloverworks, I went on to assume the former, whereas they will be able to bring good production to this anime and likewise, the anime on the surface looks really good. The choreography looks sick, the visuals are bright and vibrant, along with a good 1st impression in general thanks to the OP being quite fitting with what the anime wanted to portray. But even so, Wind Breaker has a long way to go to reach the gold standard of what a good shonen anime should achieve.

First of all, what is Wind Breaker all about? Well, you could see a whole group of delinquents ganging up together to be acknowledged by everyone, foes and friends alike. Sakura Haruka is the MC who yearns for acknowledgment and it's prevalent to see that in him. I hate to use comparisons but you can deliberately see that his ideals are like Naruto's, only with a more juvenile personality. The only thing he knows is fistfighting, punching the living soul out of anyone who dares to stand in his path, a lone wolf who has been ostracized by his peers and community alike, and you guess it, he wants to attain the crown at the top for himself just so he can be acknowledged by everyone. From there, the MC's development begins from a juvenile lonely Go-haired boy to someone who starts to learn what it means to strive for the top seat.

On the other hand, let's not act like this is an uncommon thing. Teenagers being insecure with their own identity is just common to see in any anime whose majority of the cast are teenagers, but it's difficult to find anime that knows how to portray it without relying on too much melodrama or making up plot conveniences. For instance, show flashbacks for 3 minutes to supposedly bring context to characters' backstory or make the main characters say the right thing at the right time which somehow dealt damage to the adversary's psyche. Not to mention being an anime revolving around high school students, you can tell from a glimpse of it, it was going to be about gaining the respect of the community and beating the shit out of others for treating people ill-willed. The anime is another one of those "make your MC scream their own righteous goal in your face and have their adversary be bamboozled by their screaming" kind of schtick. I may sound like I'm criticizing it for an abundance of cliches, but that's not my point. It's not the idea that any anime should try to always be original or do things out of the ordinary in every aspect, some of my favorites have done these things that I am speaking of, but the anime does nothing but feel like it over-relied on the stereotypes for too long that any form of freshness the anime could produce is just non-existent compared to what the anime commonly shoves in your face.

Besides, it's filled with so many character archetypes and cliches that it further cements the point that the anime lacks its own identity and originality. Even Umemiya's character is basically a knock-off version of Gojo Satoru with the same VA. And it's not just him, it's the whole cast themselves for being so one-dimensional and archetypal. Typically, Sakura has the most depth out of all the different characters, given the fact that he's the main character, and I'm willing to say that even the new adversaries that showed up also have some depth to them. Albeit what he has managed to achieve is just a minuscule scale of what a good character should be. It felt like he had barely touched the surface of many possibilities his character could be. And the cast has done nothing to complement each other but rather more like cheap gimmicks just to arouse your attention.

Nirei is a comic relief that also serves as the show's exposition, but oh no, since the writing is so blatant, you'll see Nirei acting like a narrator who doesn't know how to shut up. Suo acts how "normal" Mahito would do without his psychopathic tendencies. Don't even get me started with the show's humor. When you have characters this bland, you'd have a better chance of laughing at a reflection of yourself than this one, it is cluttered with these archetypes playing random quips just to cue for a laugh, but to no avail. Their connections and dialogues are superficial, none of them has any meaning other than to drive the plot to where it needs to be. To add further, I'm not trying to say a show shouldn't put stereotypes, it can be used if done with care and some creativity behind it. The stereotypes that many found annoying need to receive growth or any form of subversion to serve as a breath of fresh air, but because the show rarely tries to do so for the main cast excluding Sakura, you won't be able to see any ideal growth from them either.

Despite the excessive criticism I'm giving to this anime, there is some merit to what Wind Breaker has managed to offer despite its many blunders. As much as it is an action anime, for the most part, it isn't really bad, in fact, I'd say it's pretty good. It follows all of the ideal ingredients that make a good action anime, and as a result, most of its fights are spectacularly good, well for a couple of exceptions, (of course, I'm looking at you, Umemiya). It's nice how Cloverworks still continues to bring lively visuals and slick animation for their new projects and it definitely shows here. Even when you have simplistic characters or some of the most embarrassing dialogues known to mankind, action isn't particularly affected by it that much, so the action shines like a glimmering light on all of its weaker aspects. The pacing is also nice and it didn't suffer from too much downtime, it's straight to the point, and boom, you get a good action anime. Just not that great on the others.

In the end, Wind Breaker, without a doubt, delivers the action sequences, much of what you should expect from an action show. However, it's difficult to recommend this when you have the weakest cast to a somewhat decent main character. If you can tolerate archetypes or abysmal characters, you should be able to watch this with particular ease. Otherwise, it will be a painstaking gauntlet to get to the good part, since it spends a lot of time on the cast, and it's just a norm for shonen to have an ensemble cast to appear for most of the show, but when the cast is really bad, it can be quite a downer.

There's really not much to say about this series.

Plot
MC has black/white hair color and different colored eyes. Its actually a cool design, but apparently everyone always bullied him for that and he escaped that stress by fighting people like a delinquent. Finally, for highschool, he decided to move into a new town famous for its delinquent school. But turns out that the highschool students are "defenders" of the town (lmao.. who needs police) who protect it from other bad people. Now, MC will learn about kindness as the rest of the town is very grateful to them for "protecting" the town and also learn ... to be friends with other students. He also plans to rise to the top and become the strongest guy or something (cringe.).

Review
This is simply a highschool battle manga. If you are a teenager, you might like it. Its just teens giving life lessons like they have experienced the deepest shit or something.

Being a shounen, this is full of stereotypes. The characters, their backstories and the resolutions of all the fights are cliches we have seen a hundred times before. The MC who "hates" weaklings, will also help/protect them, and when they say thank you, he starts blushing and saying "I didn't do it for you. I hate the weak". Tsundere all the way.

But, the anime really outdid itself in taking such mediocre material and turning it into a top tier show.
1. The fight choreography
2. The animation and art
3. The sound (especially the background music during fights)

All three of those aspects are 10/10. Even without a proper plot or characters, the anime is carried hard by its action/animation/sound. This is why I gave this series a 7/10 rating.

If you are bored, and are looking for some "hype" content to time, then this is it. There's no layers or "deeper meaning" in this show, but the fights are still hype and you know the anime will deliver. If I had to compare this show, then I think beyblade is very similar in spirit.

To begin with, WIND BREAKER has nothing in common with Tokyo Revengers; anyone who says otherwise either hasn't watched one or hasn't watched the other. It is undoubtedly one of the best this season. The animation is excellent and doesn't lose quality for the sake of fluidity; the fights are perfectly choreographed with complex, well-rehearsed movements. The episodes that are entirely about fights are very good. I feel like this anime is what we've been missing for a while. The characters are VERY charismatic and well-developed, and the protagonist is not an idiot. It's also worth noting that the humor is very good without being ... overdone. I got goosebumps while watching some of the fight sequences because the animation is so good. They spared no effort to deliver something so well-made.

Wind Breaker is one of the big names in the 2024 spring season and is praised by many. However, It seems to be overhyped by the incredible animation and action sequences so much so that it distracts people from the bad writing. The show started off really fun, but once it gives the story some attention you start realizing that there isn't much besides those amazing action sequences.

Story/Writing: [4/10]
The synopsis on MAL explains the story enough that I feel I don't have to go over it. It's not exactly winning any awards, but there is nothing wrong with it. But as you may have ... seen I gave this category a low score, and that is all thanks to the god-awful writing. All the tension that was built up between the characters goes out the door after each fight. The antagonists were meant to be ruthless to their own school, beating them if they lose a fight. They even paint the main antagonist to be so mentally unwell it appears he's going insane. Things needed more time to develop but they solved all of the conflict within 3 episodes which was filled with flashbacks to force you to understand and like the characters, and even decided to make them friends right after like nothing had happened. The writing throughout the show wasn't as bad as this, but the arc I am talking about is the center of the entirety of this first season. The show rushed something so incredibly vital and that is bad writing in my book.

Premise/Plot: [6/10]
The premise makes no sense if you talk about it like it's real, but at the end of the day it's just fiction. Why are kids running gangs in schools? Where are there teachers and parents? Who really knows, but honestly I don't think it's all that important either.

Characters: [6/10]
Wind Breaker's characters are the one thing that is somewhat enjoyable about the show besides the action sequences. I love seeing the way the characters bounce off of each other, but I do have two big complaints. The first complaint is Sakura. I understand that he is scared of getting close to people and is very shy, but they keep making it a running joke, one of which gets extremely old very fast. They seriously need to tone that down, because after awhile it just upsets you. The second, I feel like they introduced a lot of characters and couldn't flesh them out properly by doing so. I hope in season 2, they don't introduce an absurd amount of characters and instead give more depth to the existing ones.

Art/Animation: [8/10]
Let's not kid ourselves, the animation is the only reason a lot of you are even reading this review. The fights were choreographed amazingly and the sakuga was great. The show kept the production steady throughout the entirety of this first season. It absolutely carries the show, and is one of it's only redeeming qualities.

Audio: [7/10]
The OST is fine, the opening and ending were both great. Not much else to say.

Conclusion:
If you go into this show wanting strictly action, I think you will come out from this show very satisfied. However, for those who need more substance in of writing, story, and deep characters in their anime, you will leave with a bad taste in your mouth. All in all a fine show to turn your brain off to. I personally hope season 2 comes back and swings harder, because as unsatisfied as I was I did catch myself enjoying this show.

This show is cringe and I hate my friend who recommended it now. Here are some quotes from the main character:

The main character said when confronting 4 random bad guys in an alley, "Im not fighting you to save him, I just hate it when weaklings think they are the alphas". This made me think of my friend michael who recommended me this show.

The main gang goes up against a rival gang and in the middle of the fight, the main character said " You guys are nothing but the bully club". I had 2 popeyes sandwiches, a mac and cheese, and 1 biscuit ... before watching, and I could see all of it when i threw up after listening to that.

This is by far the worst anime I have ever watched. I am going to have nightmares about the bully club quote. If you have a Michael type friend in your life I recommend you drop him so your life can improve and you can pursue happiness. If you don't. I hope you live a long happy life without this show.

Yeah, Tokyo Revengers is like, a lot better. And I don't even think Tokyo Revengers is good. It's just that this show sucks

Similar to Tokyo Revengers, I'm not looking for anything crazy. I'm looking for delinquents fighting each other in turf wars or whatever, with slice of life on the side. Yet, I don't even get that. At the very least, with Tokyo Revengers, there are quite a lot of stakes involved, including people dying, people switching allegiances, and overall a lot of drama/melodrama that happens.

Dude, what does this show do? it reduces fights towards being on the neighborhood watch. How lame. Like, it's cool ... that these people are protecting and stuff, but dude, delinquency is probably a bit more than just being in a neighborhood watch. Yanki culture is interesting and I'm unqualified to go ahead and talk about how it came to be, but on a surface level, isn't it about being cool, fighting other gangs, and riding bikes? Dying your hair, rebelling against the current social order, and wearing your fashionable clothes? This show doesn't embody any of that "yanki" culture that I mentioned. I'm not even sure the author decided to pick that theme to begin with.

And onto the next point: I just cannot stand character development. Over the course of just two episodes, you get lectured by an author self insert character: Kotoha. Even if not an author self insert, it's really just a plot device that throws out boring aphorisms onto the clearly mentally unstable main character, Haruka. You can't possibily think that shoving some stupid tragic backstory and then him getting immediately healed of like decades of mental abuse and self loathing with a few words of Kotoha is going to make me like either character. It's cringe. I didn't sign up to getting lectured by Kotoha about how you can't judge a person by their cover or about how "nobody chooses to be alone" and then Haruka relating super hard too and and bam his mental trauma is 99% recovered. Couldn't there be anything more...natural? I don't know, Haruka maybe spilling his heart out to a friend after he loses a fight, or maybe to his love interest. Nah, I think just him getting psychoanalyzed by Kotoha on the first few episodes is good enough guys.

Like, I hate to say it, but that's kind of the reason why isekai/fantasy genre would fit this show and characters better. Wouldn't it be a lot more of a seamless process if our MC decided to protect villagers from an orc attack, or if he decides to finally rid of his indecision and mental turmoil by seeing a tragic invasion of evil minions? Anything but this...

Tokyo Revengers at least embodies the theme of delinquints and rolls with it, for all its flaws, and the characters, despite not being the best, fit their roles and don't immediately stand out as the worst shounen trope filled garbage.

Sleeper anime of the spring. Windbreaker is a solid 8 of 10. It does a great job of doing what it seeks out to do. A bunch of extremely well animated fight scenes with more character depth than I was expecting.

The good

Contender for the best action sequences I've come across.If you want to watch a show with great action that's Shonen without the magic this show is right up your alley.

The Meh

The fight sequences are 10/10 the story drags the show down to an 8/10. It may have cleared the bar for animation and fight sequences but it hit exactly where it meant ... to story and dialogue wise. The plot is generic by Shonen standards, lone wolf brawler wants to become the strongest. Learns how to be part of a pack. It does a good job with the idea, it's nothing groundbreaking storywise.

Don't bother with Windbreaker if:

An anime about teenagers brawling everywhere with no adults, or any form of authority outside of might makes right existing doesn't sound like your thing. There is more depth than I was expecting, not enough to help it be more than what it set out to be.

Very predictable plot here which is fine but the characters are just so basic and so cringey being delinquents or helpful delinquents! Please for the love of god if your going to do this formula make it more gritty and violent, anyone who knows and seen the delinquent kids in any fucking area of the world know they are usually terrible or have done terrible things and terrible things happen to those who fight like this. Please add death, broken bones, ligaments torn, eyesight loss, police even wrongdoings or rightdoings to the formula. They need to stop glamourizing this stupid shit please lol.

Fights, especially ... with usually bad people do not end well, and I am tired of anime like this dumbing it down to a child level. Animation and visual appeal though are amazing I do love how they are drawn but that doesn't give this anime a . Now if you do like the child's perspective of delinquents or it doesn't matter to you then the anime will be atleast a 7 for you probably. And that is okay, just my gripe with this genre especially when the tone is seeming like the characters actually take themselves seriously. I feel like if you want to do this delinquent genre and be pg/pg13 at least make it super fantasy like where they have powers and better comedy.

Once again this show is unbiased for those not caring about plot tone and character's personality tropes most likely a 7 or higher and 3 or 4 for those who do.

Alright so I've seen enough episodes to form a review on this one, So might as well.

I'm generally not a fan of Delinquent anime, I haven't seen many at all and the most popular one that I can recall is Tokyo Revengers. This anime is basically Tokyo Revengers but done way better. I'll elaborate why,
1. The production values look high and the whole vibe of the anime is exactly how a teen/delinquent/fighting anime should be.

2. The animation and art is truly refreshing to look at. Not only that but the fight choreography is really really satisfying.

3. It doesn't drag stuff and wastes zero time especially ... when it comes to action.

4. The characters each have their charm, Despite just seeing 6 episodes, I care about all of them and that's a huge merit in my eyes. Character designs are striking and really appealing aswell.

5. OST/Sound design of this anime is also very suitable for it.

These are my thoughts on this anime and I thought to convey them in the form of a review.
In my opinion, This anime deserves more attention and has the potential to become better as it goes on. I really hope it gets another season.
My inner Shounen nerd is also happy with the tropes being used here. It does get corny and cheesy, Yes. But it delivers when it comes to fights and the execution is amazing. Sometimes, all you want is a simple action anime that ticks all the boxes and in my opinion, This anime does that very well.

I think everyone should give it a go to this series, imo this is the kind of series ive been waiting. The mc is not a "crybaby", he is actually strong, he isnt getting a power up every single fight with the power of friendship or having a flashback, the plot is not bad there are some stuff like "why is there no police actually protecting the citizens?"kind of things but aside from that the characters do feel like people. The show targets a certain audience so just give it a go.

I also want to point 3 key things that I really liked(they might ... not be same for everyone else)
- The fights are well done, people aren't stopping for 5 minutes talking about how good their technique is(while the fight is going on) they trade a blow and continue talking, instead there are still small talks but they dont really kill the momentum

-The main cast is interesting and arent weak in of fighting compared to mc, meaning the mc is not always having the spotlight.
WHAT I AM TRYING TO SAY is the others are not just there to make you laugh or get saved by the mc (omg that was hard to explain for some reason, I hope it makes sense, having eng as a second language makes it difficult to express myself )

- THE OPENING GOES HARD MAN, "Oh noo! CGI is really baad noo" MAAN JUST WATCH HOW THEY PUT ON THEIR JACKETS

Three episodes in and I'm already hooked, which is saying something considering I stopped enjoying action shonen since yhey seemed to veer away from the characters, opting instead for trivial antagonists and Saturday morning villains for the protagonist to defeat. However, Wind Breakers breaks that mold by offering an interesting cast of characters, a world governed by street rules, and various factions all in one package. and I love it.

So, what's the story about?

Essentially, our main character willingly immerses himself into a world of turf wars and street fights, setting Wind Breakers apart from other stories of this nature. Why? The fact that the protagonist ... chooses to be there. Thats why. It adds a layer of depth that is lacking in most shonen stories and It's becoming increasingly rare in action series. Since most action shonen our main characters are usually thrust into dangerous situations against their will or simply because they're born with or acquired some overpowered ability, without any real reason to be in the story. In windbreaker, we have a protagonist rejected by society who decides to enroll in a school full of brawlers and turf wars to rise to the top.

It's not a flawless story, but its flaws can easily be overlooked because it keeps you coming back for more. You're compelled to find out what this world has in store for our main character after his simple decision to enter it.

Also, character design-wise? It's an action shonen intended for boys but meant to be enjoyed by women, if you catch my drift.

I give the first 3 an 8/10

While I wish they were a tad longer, each battle is a masterclass in adrenaline-pumping action, leaving you on the edge of your seat and hungry for more. And with a diverse cast of characters, each with their own quirks and backstories, Windbreakers promises to keep you hooked from start to finish.

Wind Breaker, a letter of apology for all the harm that CloverWorks has done to us.

First of all, it has to be put on the table that the comparisons that this anime had with Tokyo Revenger are totally unfair to both works. The only thing they have in common is that they are kids in gangs hitting each other. Outside of that, each one has its own approach to the main story. That being said, let's talk about the gangster anime that I did watch.

Wind breaker is great from start to finish. There's really nothing I can complain about because everything seemed pretty good to ... me. Especially because I had a very critical eye looking for any little detail to judge considering that CloverWorks did this. To my surprise, they kept my mouth shut and gave me a job that made me forgive them for all the harm they have done to me. The animation was impeccable, with quite fluid movements, with power and strength. Camera movements that allowed you to see almost all possible angles of the action scenes. Without a doubt, the direction of this anime was successful in each of the chapters.

As for the story, Sakura earns your trust and affection from chapter one because he is someone who is quite human. Although they make us understand that he is strong in combat, they also show us that he has difficulties such as relating to others. Sakura is a character with quite a bit of charisma, whether you ire her strength and skill in both combat and parkour. Or on the other hand, that you empathize with him when he doesn't know how to make friends, relate to his class, or how to express herself sincerely. The trait of him blushing makes it great, it's a running gag that never gets old, since this shyness also makes him grow in small steps.

The secondary cast is not far behind, they all have a very well defined personality. Which makes it easy to recognize them and record their name with very few chapters. They are not characters that are there just because the protagonist needs friends, but rather they are complements for Sakura. The anime has a speech about how you won't be able to reach the top alone or there will be some point where you will stagnate because without help you won't be able to continue moving forward. So, the fact that the friends are there to complement Sakura in her deficient areas makes the speech well established and the viewer can understand it much better.

Without a doubt, Wind Breaker was the best I've watched this season. It is an anime with quality and a guarantee seal. If you want to experience an anime of personal growth, Wind Breaker will not disappoint you. You may even take a couple of tips for your personal life. At the end of the day, Furin, more than a gang, is a family.

Look, I'll keep this real simple. If you like violence, if you like action, if you like testosterone-filled hand-to-hand combat between angsty teenage boys who fight like seasoned MMA fighters, then this is the anime for you. We're talking the most fluid bare-knuckle fighting animation possibly in anime history. We're talking power struggles between high school gangs. We're talking screaming HOORAH at the screen when the MC spits out a chad line.

This is a Shounen anime so just overlook all the plot holes like why aren't the police ever involved in a high-crime area? How did these kids learn to fight like pros? How ... are these businesses alive if nobody ever comes there due to the gangs? Where the hell are the parents of these kids and do they not care about them?!

ALL THESE THINGS DON'T MATTER BECAUSE WE JUST WANT TO SEE TWO STRONG MEN KICK THE SH*T OUT OF EACH OTHER

Sakura leaves urban life for a quieter town known for its school of the strongest delinquents. Convinced he has what it takes to climb to the top, Sakura is ready to spend his high school days fighting for supremacy.

Story & Character: 3/10 & 4/10
Delinquent series typically incorporate elements of conflict over territory, finances, and hierarchy. While Wind Breaker includes turf wars, it lacks intensity, with fights ending in trivial ways. The series feels more like a civilized drama than a battle shounen, focusing on character dynamics and situational comedy rather than rivalry. Sakura's goal of rising to the top is challenged by the reality that ... Furin's hierarchy is determined by democracy, not meritocracy, making the story risk-averse.

Wind Breaker attempts to develop characters through conflict of identity, addressing their feelings instead of fostering rivalry. This results in characters with cringe-worthy personas and dialogues, particularly seen in Sakura and his enemies. The delinquents of Bofurin all seem one-dimensional, friendly types, with unique traits limited to unexpected hobbies or quirky habits. The series tries to develop character bonds with witty humor or forced camaraderie through minor events and flashbacks, leading to shallow connections. Ume and Chouji have split personalities that become delusional and awkward when they 'break,' making it difficult to endure.

Art & Sound: 7/10 & 6/10
The art and animation are Wind Breaker's saving grace. The character designs remain consistent, and the fight animations have superior visual impact and fluidity, making them breathtaking to watch. However, beyond this, the average frame is filled with minimal movement and typical comedic art tropes like super-deformed characters or expressive typography. The quality disparity between action and dialogue scenes is jarring but necessary to focus on the more important aspects.

The sound design in Wind Breaker is not too ambitious. There are thematic soundtracks, especially in conflict and comedy scenes. The voice acting suits the characters but lacks expression beyond their personas. Despite being the stereotypical weakling of Bofurin, I enjoyed Akihiko's unhinged dialogues of panic throughout the series.

Overall & Enjoyment: 4/10
The series would have been more enjoyable with a greater variety of characters. I expected turf wars, brawls, crime, and other delinquent activities, but ended up watching a class of truant students on neighborhood watch, rescuing missing cats. A grittier premise and more masculine characters could have enhanced the series, especially with its visually appealing fight choreography.
