Peach Boy Riverside

In a magical world where humans, demihumans, and oni are heavily at odds with each other, a princess named Saltorine "Sally" Aldike is on a journey to find a person named Mikoto Kibitsu. Traversing the world, Sally comes across many truths that she had been ignorant of due to her lineage—including the knowledge that the oni possess power potent enough to wipe out humanity.

Seemingly blessed with a way to counter the oni's might, Sally has a strange power that manifests itself as a sigil resembling a peach, giving her superhuman abilities capable of defeating powerful oni with ease. Even so, Sally refuses to discriminate between humans, demihumans, and oni as much as possible, believing that peace between the three factions could be attainable one day.

On the contrary, Mikoto—who also has the same ability as Sally's but with greater mastery—has a different goal. Mikoto is out to kill and torment all oni in existence, stopping at nothing to fulfill this objective. As Sally and Mikoto continue to cross paths, the power they possess will spell the difference between amicable coexistence and utter annihilation.

THE DIRECTOR SABOTAGED THIS SERIES

Is an interesting way to start a review, but also completely true. Why this anime has such a wide range of scores is entirely because of the episode order, I too probably would have given this 5 or below if I watched the whole thing in the raw episode order, as the story would have made no sense at all, the characters wouldn't have been introduced, and the final episode would literally have ended when the story actually continues, for whatever reason the director decided to do this I've never seen it before and can only call it what it is, ... literal sabotage and an attempt to kill the anime, which for the most part it has succeeded.


ABSOLUTELY CRUCIAL that if you decide to watch this anime, you watch it in this order that you will find very commonly online and in other reviews/comments posted here: 4 - 1 - 2 - 7 - 11 - 12 - 5 - 6 - 3 - 8 - 10 - 9
If you don't watch it in this order I strongly expect it won't be enjoyed, I personally wouldn't have enjoyed it if I didn't luckily purely by chance find this same order.


For the actual anime, if you like any of the following you'll probably enjoy it:

- Medieval, Magical Fantasy, Oni, Spirits, Swordsmanship, Fighting
- Blonde Female MC that has a (BIG)(BIG) personality
- Actual power differences, the MC is not a silver bullet, there is massive power gaps between Humans, Oni, the MC, enemies of the MC
- High quality fights that can be somewhat gory
- Interesting back stories of each character, some are left unexplored still as there's only 12 episodes, but the characters even the villains of the story are all very interesting, one particular villain competes for being the most interesting character of the story and you'll know when they appear which I'm talking about


I'd love a season 2 but I feel after the sabotage that happened with the airing order it likely will never happen, so just enjoy this season as it is in its entirety.

Mixed Feelings

The shuffle of each episode is terrible, and it's confusing. If only the story continued at a normal pace, it'd be a hit!
When it comes to the characters, well, they're fine, and some are badass. I think the shuffling of each episode ruined it. 
and that's the only major problem that I noticed along the way. The animation is great, though, and the fighting scenes are okay! 

Everyone has their own perspective and taste. it's either you'll drop it or finish it | ending up loving it or hating it.
Manga and light novels might be hit differently; I haven't read them yet, but I feel like ... it's a good story.

My favorite character is Frau! 🤍

Oh boy they took a potentially great anime worth a 7 or 8 and turned it into a 2 simply because their editor or whatever idiot decided that "a linear way of storytelling would be way too boring so we should add spotifys greatest feature instead!" which gave us this "MasTErpIecE" of storytelling. I dont know what drugs they were on but i need to know so i can avoid that mindbreaking stuff so i wont fuck my dog or impregnate my sister. The Story had so much potential and yet they took it and shot it behind the dumpster like a stray dog with ... rabies.
2/10 because its watchable but thats all it is because youll end up pissed off by it, majorly so in fact.
