Gakkougurashi!

At first I was confused, from its description to art it displays a bunch of kids hanging out in a school. I thought one of the kids was potentially insane like Sugar Life or their was a monster hiding in the school like Dusk Maiden Amnesia. Without getting into the major spoiler its kind of a little of both. At the end of episode 1, its shown the main girl is actually insane making a whimsical world where everyone is still alive. They arent in the school for a school club, but they live there for safety. It is an amazing and suspenseful anime that ... is only good if you don't know what to expect, the mystery. As the anime goes one the happy go lucky attitude slowly crumbles as the reality of what truly happened becomes more and more apparent. The anime goes into details of trama, loss, and mental health. You don't know what is truly real unless the anime directly shows you. The opening is amazing, it changes every episode so pay attention to what becomes different. This is by far my favorite horror series of all time and I highly recommend checking it out this Halloween

School-Live! Is a really interesting premise, a zombie apocalypse happens and 4 kids and their teacher plus a dog are trapped inside and one of the characters has severe psychosis.

The only issue is the pacing. 3 of the episodes are flashbacks telling us how they met one of the characters, this is a show with a LOT of fan-service, in fact one whole episode is dedicated to it. however there are also some genuinely dark moments.

The plot twists are good and the ending is sad, I almost cried to be honest.

But you they don't delve deep into these characters and the big ... plot twist comes out of nowhere and the pacing is SO fast, the show is over before you even have a chance to bond with the characters.

The jump the shark moments in the last 2 episodes never really amount to anything.

Do I recommend the show? It's cute. It has its moments and its a tearjerker

But the whole psychosis thing pretty much is dropped by the mid season finale.

It was cool at first to see the girl just going to class and pretending everything is normal but midway though they stop it.

It isn't a bad show at all but it just builds up to nothing and leaves you with a lot of questions.

It's cute but thats all I can say.

With a very strong start, gakkougurashi turns more and more dissapointing at every episode that es.

!!!!!SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!!!

The characters really are not much more than moe cute girls, and when the show has any opportunity to explore them more, just wastes it. For example, the decision to make Miki confront zombie Megumi not only is the less interesting option to make; but also goes against the supposed message of "moving on" from the show. has none of the girls have or even seem to acknowledge the need to kill Megumi zombie.

Actually, the show contradicting its own message also happens when Yuuri refuses to kill Kurumi and ... that's completely okay having no consequences at all. This could be an option to be made and even be interpreted as the "right choice", but brushing it off with just some cliff hanger of Yuuri almost killing her and then one or two scenes of her crying does not explore any theme and would be better off NOT PUT on the show at all if you're not going to do anything with it.

The final monologues about "how we need to move on and everything has to come to an end" really misses to hit due to this repeated refusal of the show to show us that.

Yuki refusal to believe on what happened was also a very VERY cool concept, but it was so poorly and I mean REALLY POORLY executed, it never builded the tension that the show so desperatly tired to create.

I also felt that there was a loss of focus on what character should be the main one. While I understand the need to make Miki an outsider so she can confront Yuki and we can get more context without a full info dump; it was too stretched out for us to see, know more and even process Yuki as the actual main character.

Overall, there were really good and cool ideas, but left more to be desired for.
