Fairy Tail (2014)

The Grand Magic Games reaches its climax following Natsu Dragneel and Gajeel Redfox's stunning victory over Sting Eucliffe and Rogue Cheney of the Sabertooth guild. This success pushes the Fairy Tail guild closer to being crowned the overall champions, but obtaining victory is not the only challenge they face. A mystery still surrounds a hooded stranger and the ominous Eclipse Gate, leaving more questions than answers.

More crazy adventures are on the horizon for Fairy Tail as their destructive antics and joyful rowdiness continue unabated. Their greatest trial is quickly approaching, but united as a family, the guild will always be ready to face any threat that comes their way.

If you watched all 175 episodes of the first season of Fairy Tail then you're definitely watching the second season too, or well, the first 25 episodes at least since you'll want to finish the grand magic games. Though I believe you'll like the rest of the season too.

Overall I think that this is a pretty good second season and that it's pretty similar to the first. That is to say, there's still a bunch of fanservice and the anime still sucks at time management. So much so actually that in this season they finish a fight way too early and have to show ... clips of it in the following episodes to make sure that the timeline actually matches up. Another weak part of this season is that it has pretty long recaps on some episodes, up to 3 and a half minutes excluding the opening, which might be fine if you're watching an episode every week but really isn't if you're watching them back to back.

The most important part of the anime however is its story and I think it's still good. Not all episodes are equally enjoyable and "because Erza" isn't a valid answer to my questions but the large storylines are still really cool and make the anime enjoyable to watch. There are several instances of deus ex machina but in the context of this anime it doesn't seem to bother me at all.

The characters are also still great and get quite a lot of development. Near the end of the season there's actually a few episodes that go into more detail about the past that tie a lot of threads together very nicely and were some of the best episodes so far.

The artstyle is similar to the first season and so is the music. Some music choices seemed slightly odd but they definitely suit their respective scenes and I ended up being able to predict what music would play in some of them just by what was happening.

Overall you'll probably enjoy this if you liked the first season which you hopefully did if you sat through 175 episodes of it. The story is still good and everything else is similar enough that you'll probably like it.

Mixed Feelings

i was really kinda disappointed with this season ,unlike season 1 season 2 is really didn't have much to talk about .

most of it was nothing but a waste of my time boring stories and very uninteresting fights .

in most of this season i was finding myself saying damn does this have an end so i can skip this whole thing without me worrying about missing out on an important things that might occur .

most of the season was embarrassing if we compare it with the excellent stories and fights in season 1 .

there wasn't anything here made me focus right until maybe at the ... start of Episode 60 to 90 were things started to get a little bit interesting but even with that it still didn't had that much of an impact since all of these characters that showed up there had a 0% build up .

the Animation quality !! well i don't know what the hell happened ! but Animation quality here if we compare it with season 1 then this will be like an Anime living on a low budget .

soundtrack in fights and all encounters they all made my ears bleeding they need to fire the guy behind those like right now and go back to the guy that made the soundtracks for season 1 because those were much much better than these here

so at the end of this i would say a 5/10 rating is a very generous number from me tbh , now about to start season 3 hope it is better than this because THIS was really a very generic show in general

I first watched Fairy tail up to the beggining of the Mavis arc when I was 13. Around that time one of my teachers had explained to us the importance of consuming media with 'a critical eye', so when I went back home to watch some Fairy Tail, I realized exactly what she was talking about.

Fairy tail is a show that is mediocre at best,but manages to pull people in by a vague mention of themes and friendship that either get contradicted, nothing done with them or never mattered in the first place. I firmly believe that were Fairy tail fans to watch more shows, ... they'd have a better perspective and develop a stronger sense of taste that would in turn make them able to see how much of a waste of time Fairy tail really is.

As someone who only liked this show when I was like 12 and has grown to hate it more and more with the years, the only appeal to it I can possibly see is a bunch of hot girls and what you're made to think are the core ideas present in any shonnen anime.

If only all the girls didn't look exactly the same. But what's worse is that they aren't even proper characters. Fairy tail girls are more like those mediocre dating sim girls who only have as much personality as they need to fulfill a broad stereotype you as a player might be attracted to. How do any of these girls develop as characters? Easy, they don't. The show tries to convince you they do, but if you actually look and try to pinpoint for yourself how they've actually developed you'll be disappointed to find they didn't at all. In fact you can try that method on all of the characters in fairy tail that are relevant enough for you to right now and see the exact same results!

But what about the friendships between these pieces of cardboard? About the drama? The themes of family and friendship? They're lies. They don't fucking matter. I'm sure all of you Lissanna as one of a million examples in this show of you being emotionally manipulated only to have no consequences at all. And the other thing you probably already heard is how Fairy tail can't even nail the feeling of the guild being a family because only like 10 of them matter.

I'm not here to insult fans of fairy tail or anyone that was tricked into trying it out. I'm trying to save you. Don't make my mistake. Your time is too valuable to be wasted here.
